 Steve Brightman

 

Steve Brightman - Chairman

Steve served as a police officer with Kent Police from 1981 until his retirement in 2011.  During this time he undertook a variety of roles mostly uniform but also within the field of intelligence.  He worked mainly in Medway but also at North Kent and at Headquarters where, as the Chief Superintendent in charge of Area Operations, he helped to oversee local policing activity across the County.

Having retired from the service he now works part time at two Medway schools and also runs one of the youth sides at Medway Rugby Club.  Steve joined Streetcops in 2011 and is currently performing the role of Chairman.

 

 

Stella Mercer - Treasurer

 Stella Mercer

Stella served as a police officer with Kent Police from 1977 to 2007 undertaking various roles in crime investigation and command.  She worked mainly in North Kent but also in the Medway Towns where she served a period as Area Commander.

Having retired from the service she now divides her time between a number of voluntary roles whilst studying for a degree in Theology on the campus at Chatham.  Stella joined The Streetcops Trust in 2008 and is currently performing the role of Treasurer.

 

 Mark Pearson

 

Mark Pearson - Secretary & Founder

Mark joined Kent Police in 2001 and all of his service has been in frontline uniformed roles.  He was the neighbourhood constable for Walderslade for 5 years and it was during this time that Mark helped create The Streetcops Trust.  He currently works in Medway as a Response Sergeant.

In addition to performing the role of Secretary Mark's other roles within The Streetcops Trust are as Website Administrator and co organiser of the annual ball.

 

 

Rob Jackson - Trustee & Founder

  Rob Jackson

Rob joined Kent Police in 2001 and all of his service has been in frontline uniformed roles.  He worked at Medway as the neighbourhood constable for 3 years then following promotion to Sergeant he supervised all of the neighbourhood officers working in Chatham and Rochester for a further 2 years.  Rob now works for the Metropolitan Police in the borough of Lewisham, London.

Rob's main role within The Streetcops Trust is as co organiser of the annual ball. 

 

Les Wicks 

 

Les Wicks - Trustee

Les has been a Councillor since 1979 and currently holds the Medway Council Cabinet portfolio for Children's Services.  He is Chairman of Medway's Children's Trust and has been a resident of Medway since 1962.

He particularly concerns himself with provision for young people.

 

 

Ken Webber - Secretary

 Ken Webber

Ken served seven years in the army with the Royal Engineers before settling in Gillingham.  He worked thirty two years at Marconi Avionics at Rochester Airport.  Ken was a Councillor for twenty one years and was Mayor of Gillingham in 1993 then Mayor of Medway in 2005.

Ken and his wife Anita have four children and four Grandchildren.  He spent many years as a school Governor and within The Streetcops Trust has a specific interest in supporting young people in Medway.

 

John Wadsworth

 

John Wadsworth - Trustee

John has lived his whole life in Medway and as a boy grew up in the village of Upper Halling.  He has run his Dry Cleaning business for over 40 years which is now based in Lordswood.

John became involved with the police in 2005 when it was clear that the community needed a better way of working together with the police.  He helped create the Admirals Walk Community Partnership which success led to him also becoming a member of the Independent Advisory Group for Medway Police.

John looks forward to helping small groups through Streetcops which he believes can have a very big impact on the local community to enable it to be closer.

 

 

Andrew Mackness - Trustee

Andrew Mackness

Andrew's career started in retail which took him overseas to South Africa and Mauritius.  On returning to the UK in 1993 he obtained a Commercial Pilots Licence and spent two years as a commercial pilot in the UK and USA.  Andrew then returned to the world of commerce with the purchase of a franchise cleaning company and proceeded with a number of management buy outs over an eight years period.

Andrew now works alongside his Wife in her catering business and has recently established a new restaurant brand.  He was elected as a Councillor for River ward on 5 May 2011 and sits on a number of Medway Council committees as well as being appointed to outside bodies such as the Chatham Maritime Trust.
